"Pale Roses in Striped Vase" Original Painting
9” x 12” acrylic on canvas board
Unframed
I knew I had to paint these roses the moment I saw them, and once I placed them in my blue and white striped vase, it was undeniable. The color combination of the pale, coral pink with the vibrant blue was awe-inspiring. The brilliance of the light shining on the outer petals of the roses created such a pale, pinky-orange color, which then lead your eye into the vibrant coral inside and it just felt magical. Not only that, but how the blues on the vase go from airy, sky blue in the light, to the deep, electric blue with a touch of purple in the shadow, absolutely captivated my attention.
I used my brushwork to really emphasize the color changes, contrasts and how they compliment each other without being overwhelming. Multiple layers of varying pinks and corals gave the roses a feeling of depth and texture with their seemingly hundreds of petals.
It’s a celebration of color and texture, ideal for adding a pop of color to a kitchen, bathroom, entryway, bookshelf, or office.
